On-call recruitment were pleased to be able to support the annual Golf Day for the Notts County Former Players’ Association at the Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club on Wednesday September 11th 2013.
The annual Golf Day offers former players the opportunity to reminisce and keep in touch with each other. The event saw County legends from the 1950s through to the modern era turn out to compete for the Arthur Mann Trophy. Ex-Magpies’ frontman Gary Lund took home the main prize, narrowly beating Tommy Johnson with the help of a fantastic chip at the 18th hole. Chris Withe came in third but the former Notts defender claimed the prize for Best Pair, along with his wife Teresa.
The Best Guest prize was won by Terry Mundy, with Peter Rice in second place, whilst Don Masson’s team gained the best group score. The club’s all-time top-scorer Les Bradd, who organised the event along with another club legend Brian Bates, told the official site: “The tournament was formed in 1999 in tribute to a former player Arthur Mann, who sadly died in an accident at work.
“It’s a means of us getting together every September to relive old, happy times at Notts County and remember, firstly, Arthur Mann, and other ex-players that have passed away.”
