Snow Didn’t Stop Play

January 18th, 2013

Snow at Meadow LaneNotts County were pleased that snow didn’t stop play when the worst of the weather hit Nottingham.

Thanks to volunteers from On-call recruitment, the club’s nPower League 1 match against Sheffield United on Saturday took place. Given the task of an early start the day of the game, our volunteers managed to clear the pitch in time.

Several representatives from On-call joined members of the Youth Team coaching staff and players to clear snow that had fallen over the week. With the playing surface passing its initial inspection at midday on Friday, the match was able to go ahead as planned the next day.

A spokesman from Notts County noted: “Our relationship with sponsors On-call recruitment continues to go from strength to strength and we are delighted to have them on board. We thank them for their continued support and input into the club.”

The game finished 1-1. The visiting Blades took an early lead through Harry Maguire’s second minute header. Francois Zoko for Notts was sent off leaving a somewhat snow-covered mountain for the Magpies to climb, but Alan Judge’s header 10 minutes from time was enough to ensure Keith Curle’s Notts rescued a point.
